Welcome to our shelter

We're very excited to announce a partnering with the Missouri Department of Corrections in the Puppies For Parole program. We've already enrolled three candidates into the program and we're very enthused about the outcome! You can read more about this program and the candidates we've enrolled on our News & Events page. If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one or more of our candidates once they graduate, please contact us here at the shelter.
We are currently desperately in need of funds to help defray our transport costs for those dogs and cats needing transport to other parts of the country either to be rehomed into specific rescue groups or to reach their new homes with adopted owners. Being able to provide these transports can often mean the difference between life and death for these dogs and cats. Please help us to keep our transports moving by donating today! The dogs and cats say "Thank You!" Chillicothe Animal Shelter is a 501c non profit organization, all donations are tax deductible.
Our dogs at the shelter love the Kuranda beds. With the winter months quickly approaching, we will need more of these beds for their kennels to give the dogs some relief and comfort from the cold cement floors. We are in need of both beds and parts for the beds we already have. Please consider donating a bed or repair parts. You may donate a bed directly from Kuranda by clicking the graphic above, or you may donate funds toward the beds so that we can order them from Kuranda. To donate funds for the beds, please click the PayPal link above and be sure to note on your donation "For Dog Beds". We and the dogs of Livingston County Humane Society say "Thank You!!"
The Chillicothe Animal Shelter is managed by the Livingston County Humane Society. The shelter is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. It is closed on Sunday.
The Livingston County Humane Society is responsible for handling all animal control services in the city pertaining to the shelter and enforcement of the city's animal control ordinances. The shelter is operated and maintained by Lesley Patek with the help of generous volunteers.
The Forest O. Triplett Memorial Animal Shelter is housed in a
nice facility thanks to the generosity of the Forest O. Triplett family
and the many individuals who belong to and support the Livingston County Humane
Society. Our facility is located just south of U.S. Highway 36, behind
Shearer Ag Center, a short distance east of Chillicothe, Missouri. Please see the map on the Contact Us page. The humane society receives a base service
fee, a portion of dog and cat license fees, all kennel and adoption fees and all
animal control fines.
